Learn about the ancient technique of Kawandi Quilting. Catherine will introduce a brief history of this slow, meditative and intuitive art form and discuss how Kawandi Quilting is different from other quilt making techniques. It has its roots in Africa and is associated with the Siddi community in Western India. Traditionally made from worn out clothing, old saris and leftover fabric pieces, more modern versions often include bright coloured quilting fabrics.
We will pick up our needles and work along with Catherine to produce our own Kawandi Quilt.
And yes, we will be chatting about ‘phulas/foolas’ and bellies’!!
